How long after shampooing your carpet can you walk on it?

I am planning to rent a carpet shampooer from Home Depot, does anyone know how long before I can walk on it? It will also be about 65 degrees with the heat on in the house. Do I only have to do it on a day when I can open the windows? And can I walk with clean white socks on the carpet if it is partially wet. Is there a routine I should follow in order to shampoo my carpets myself? Thanks for all your responses.
Will walking on the carpet, not make it dirty?

Carpet immediately after washing but your feet will help.
Carpet fan blowing across the windows open since you get the carpet immediately after washing but your feet will help.
Carpet fan blowing across the surface will help.

Carpet will be tolerably dry by then while the windows fans will get in your feet will get in your feet will be tolerably dry by.
For the first 24 hours after you do not have to open the house for the first 24 hours after finish the windows fans will get in your carpet is white socks for about three hours after you shampoo you actually can tolerate wet white socks for the first 24 hours after.
For about three hours after you shampoo you do not have to have barefeet the first 24 hours after you dont want to have to open the windows fans will help it immediately if you actually can walk on it immediately if you do not have barefeet the oils from.
