what kind of carpet should I use at my entrance hall that is practical and classy?

March 7th, 2010
on a limb asked:

We just put hardwood flooring down on our entire main floor. It’ s beautiful now, but I need to put a carpet down that is durable and waterproof to a point. We have a huge entrance with a16′ ceiling and I don’t want to make it look tacky, but I can’t help thinking practical ‘cuz I don’t want it to be ruined in a month. We live in a cold climate with lots of snow in winter and rain in spring.

What would taking the carpet out of my Jeep do to the audio quality?

February 28th, 2010
saintxxjimmy asked:

I have a Jeep Wrangler, and I’m about to put a full sound system in, dual 12″ sub woofers, etc. I want to take the carpet out of my Jeep, would that diminish the sound quality? (I already know its an open air vehicle and I’ll be losing a lot of sound and what not), would I be better off leaving the carpet? What about a rubber liner? Rhino lining? Or nothing at all?

How do I make carpet stair treads out of my carpet remnants?

February 25th, 2010
Elaine asked:

I have a large piece of carpet remnant and want to use it to cover my wooden basement stairs. If I cut the remnant into small pieces, how to I prevent the edges from fraying? I looked at bonding tape, but I’m not sure if that’s the right way to go. Any suggestions?

The True Cost Of Not Maintaining Your Carpet

February 17th, 2010
Randy Pierce asked:

“The True Cost of Not Maintaining Your Carpet”

Carpet is the third largest expense for most people: Behind their house and their car. Most carpets today are petroleum based, so when the price of oil skyrocketed so did the price of carpet. There were price increases almost every 2 weeks for months, leading to a almost 15% price increase last year. A carpet that cost $38.75 per yard now costs $45.00 per yard this is for a low end mid grade carpet. In this scenario if you bought 100 yards of carpet the increase was $675.00. Now most of going to say that is really high that is because retailers now show you prices by the square foot, to get the price per yard you need to multiply by 9.

Carpet manufactures recommend their carpets be cleaned every 12-24 months. We recommend at least once a year, and we have 2 packages for ½ price cleanings every 6 months. Here are the reasons for this: Carpet acts like a filter collecting dirt, sand, oil, smoke, and grease among anything else walked or floating in.

The sand and small rocks act like sandpaper scratching off the carpet protector and damaging the fibers. Regular vacuuming and truck mount hot water extraction will remove these contaminates.

The oils and grease help hold the soils and other contaminates the carpet, this is where the truck mounted hot water extraction comes in  which is the way most manufactures want it done, with a proper detergent and 180 degree plus water you can break down the oils to release the soils.

Most carpet cleaners have prices from .30 to .70 per square foot of $2.70-6.30 per square yard, which is 6-14% of what carpet cost today. Most of these prices are the same from 5 or more years ago. If you maintain your carpet semi-annually to annually your carpet can last and look great until your just tired of the color and WANT to change it, not change it because you have to.

This scenario is based on just 100 yards of carpet.

At $45 per yard, 100 yards would cost you $4500. Which is enough carpet to cover ½ a town house. If you cleaned the carpet yearly at a median price of .50 per square foot it would cost $450 per year. So with regular vacuuming and cleanings it would take 10 years to match the cost of replacing that carpet. With proper care and maintenance this carpet would still look good and not need to be replaced. Without proper care your carpet may only last 5 years before in needs to be replaced.

With proper care in those 5 years you would spend $2200 for regular cleanings. Without proper care you would of spent $0 on cleanings but NOW you have to spend $4500+ say 3% per year increase for a total of 15% or $675. So now your replacing your carpet for a total of $5175.

So you can properly care and maintain your carpet for $2200 or replace it for $5175. That means you save $2975 every 5 years just by properly caring for and maintaining your carpet with professional cleanings.

You not only save approximately 60% over 5 years but you also help save the planet by keeping your carpet out of out landfills. You also will save yourself the inconvenience of moving all your furniture from your home to have the carpet installed.

So you can maintain your carpet for the money, the planet, or your sanity. The key is to Maintain Your Carpet!

What is the best way in Carpet Cleaning

February 9th, 2010
Carpet Cleaning asked:

carpet cleaning

Is your carpet cleaning business running into problems tempting customers? If so , you shouldn’t be having this type of difficulty. Folk are constantly damaging their carpets due to wear, tear, and absence of correct upkeep. This can ruin the look of their interior and with the right selling plan you can make them aware how your cleaning service can help them out.

Carpet cleaning is something vital to our household hygiene that we often times overlook.

Profession Carpet Cleaning

You will rest simple knowing that they can do the job in the right way.

Some may wonder if it is better to clean a carpet on their lonesome versus hiring a professional carpet cleaning service. This is a valid concern. Most people will would like to have their carpet cleaned as best as possible within their individual budgetary situation.

Professional carpet cleaning services are most definitely the process that may be employed to supply the most impressive results. They have the experience cleaning carpets and this suggests they can ensure the final product is something the home-owner or department dweller will be pleased with. Those that try and clean their own carpeting won’t have access to such hardware.

Doing it for yourself

While you are cleaning your carpet, it’s desperately important that you don’t get it too humid ; doing so could lead to not only bacterial and mould expansion but also to the backing on it possibly separating. Keep in mind that if your carpet hasn’t dried completely within twenty-four hours, the risk is high for these things to occur.

There are debates for and against cleaning your own carpet. If you have someone that isn’t responsible about it, you’ll end up with your padding and floors damaged, and your carpet will still not be clean. Try getting your cash back from a corporation like that. Naturally, if you hire a credible professional, your carpet will be undamaged and look as new when they’re done.

However , if you hire a carpet cleaning machine and you end up making a howler, you will end up losing money when your carpet, underlayment and floor are all ruined.

Follow the instructions on the machine very meticulously, and ensure you measure the cleaner and water properly.

Don’t get annoyed when it comes to how long it is taking for your carpet to dry. Just turn on all of the fans you’ve got to get the air circulating, and, if you have one, turn on your dehumidifier.

Hot Water Extraction

Sometimes called hot water extraction, this type of cleaning involves spraying a hot water/detergent mix into your carpet, after which a particularly potent vacuum sucks back out the water and dirt sending it into a holding tank. You have the choice of either using a portable unit that is self-contained or employing a larger unit mounted on a truck. For virtually all carpet cleaning roles, this needs to be the only way to go.

The single difference is that many carpets are big and thick, so some of the household owners are exhausted of cleaning it. Well here is good news on a way to maintain your carpets without having any tough time whatsoever. Let Raleigh Carpet Cleaning help you.

How long after shampooing your carpet can you walk on it?

February 8th, 2010
jatexgirl asked:

I am planning to rent a carpet shampooer from Home Depot, does anyone know how long before I can walk on it? It will also be about 65 degrees with the heat on in the house. Do I only have to do it on a day when I can open the windows? And can I walk with clean white socks on the carpet if it is partially wet. Is there a routine I should follow in order to shampoo my carpets myself? Thanks for all your responses.
Will walking on the carpet, not make it dirty?
